RELIEF FOR SA // COVID-19 LOCKDOWN MEASURES RELAXED

It was with immense relief on Saturday evening that our President announced a major relaxation in the conditions of lockdown around South Africa. The statistics in South Africa where daily infections have dropped by over 50 % in the past month, and the mortality rate sits at 1.36 % has allowed Government to make such allowances possible.

One can now travel across Provincial borders within the country, Liquor and cigarettes may be sold ( yes, South Africans have essentially been sober for five months ), and the majority of the economy is re-opening. While we are still encouraged to work remotely where we can, the Film Industry as a whole is now fully operational.

South Africa has been internationally commended for its early, strict and effective lockdown, and the results are now being seen. We have reached far lower levels of infection and mortality than originally forecast, and this leads us to believe that failing a terrible second wave, the international borders could well be open by November.

Cape Town Productions and the industry is prepared for Covid-19 protocols and all SOP's are in place as advised by the City of Cape Town and the Film Permit office to ensure a safe shooting environment. Your safety is very important to us!

We wanted to share this news with you, and hopefully our positivity will spread to all those who read it.
